You are all invited to the “Lecture and Performance with the Mabuhay Singers”

The Mabuhay Singers, the quintessential sextet behind the well-loved Filipino folksongs, kundiman, danza, balitaw, and pop music, continued to capture the interest of scholars and historians for the timeliness of their music and their willingness to interface with their loyal radio listeners and young people.

Formed in 1958 by Manuel P. Villar of Mabuhay Records Corporation, the group was originally composed of members of the two trios, Tres Rosas (Carmen Camacho, Nora Hermosa, and Raye Lucero) and the Lovers Trio (Ador Torres, Floro San Juan, and Bert Legaspi), whose voices perfectly blended in what is known as unison singing form. Eventually, other singers joined the group.

This event is jointly organized by the UPD College of Media and Communication and the College of Music and in partnership with the UPD Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts (UPD-OICA).
